چکیده

The purpose of this study was to determine the concordance between two equations used for estimating glomerular filtration rate, in order to verify the possibility to be used interchangeably in the clinical practice. The two equations are of Cockcroft & Gault (CG) (1976) formula and MDRD (modification of Diet in Renal Disease) (1999) formula, these two models allow the assessment of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) by calculating creatinine clearance (CLCR).To make a comparison between these two formulas different models were examined for Subjects with normal renal function, Patients with renal impairment, Diabetic patients, Age and sex, finally lean and obese patients by modeling two algorithms with the two functions. Results show that the formula of Cockcroft & Gault remains the method of choice for estimating renal function in clinical practice.

Accuracy of modification of diet for renal disease and Cockcroft-Gault equations as compared to the radioisotope double sample method: A study in patients with acute renal failure

Introduction: We intended to assess the accuracy of re-expressed Modification of Diet for Renal Disease (MDRD) and Cockcroft-Gault (CG) equations to estimate glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in chronic kidney disease in two different etiologies of acute renal failure (ARF): acute tubular necrosis (ATN) and acute glomerulonephritis (AGN). Methods: Patients admitted for ARF or the patients compl...

Performance of the Cockcroft-Gault, MDRD, and new CKD-EPI formulas in relation to GFR, age, and body size.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES We compared the estimations of Cockcroft-Gault, Modification of Diet in Renal Disease (MDRD), and Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration (CKD-EPI) equations to a gold standard GFR measurement using (125)I-iothalamate, within strata of GFR, gender, age, body weight, and body mass index (BMI). Symmetrical dimethylarginine outperforms CKD-EPI and MDRD-derived eGFR for the assessment of renal function in patients with adult congenital heart disease.

BACKGROUND/AIMS Adults with congenital heart disease exhibit a 3-fold higher mortality in the presence of chronic kidney disease, hence assessment of renal function is crucial in this patient population. Formulas for the estimation of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) have not been evaluated in this patient population. Therefore, this study compares different markers and equations for the estima...

Kidney function estimated with different formulas in centenarians.

PURPOSE There are growing doubts about the accuracy of Cockcroft-Gault formula (CG) used for the estimation of creatinine clearance, especially in elderly. Recently, the authors of the multicenter trial of the Modification of Diet in Renal Diseases (MDRD) have proposed a new equation. Moreover, Baracskay et al. (B), proposed the special formula for the estimation of kidney function (KF) in elde...
